Lawn Doctor of Greater Columbus does hundreds of soil tests per year. The following are the highlights from all the results in 2020:
- 84% of lawns had a high or very high pH level
- 62% of lawns had a low or very low Phosphorus level
- 69% of lawns had a low or very low Potassium level
- 56% of lawns had a high or very high level of Magnesium
- 68% of lawns had a high or very high Calcium level
So what do these readings mean? Many lawns struggle with nutrient levels that are off and often high pH levels. Individually these readings can impact a lawn’s ability to properly absorb nutrients through the root system. Collectively, two or more negative readings worsen the situation for the grass. In a sense, the grass is anemic and cannot properly process food.
