How does Lawn Doctor control moles?  Moles are very difficult to control.  We use a safe product called Mole Exit which does not kill the moles.   We do not use traps or poison baits to control moles.  Traps seem to be the most effective strategy to kill moles.

How does Mole Exit work?  Mole Exit contains castor oil which is an irritant to moles.  It repels them with the smell of the castor oil and move away from the smell.  Castor comes from the Castor Bean Plant.  Castor oil is non-toxic and will not harm children or pets.

How do you apply Mole Exit?  We use our equipment to spread the granular Mole Exit product throughout the lawn.

Do I need to water my lawn after applying?  No, mole exit works right away and does not need to be activated like some other lawn care products.

How long does it take the moles to leave?   You will notice increased mole activity after the application as the moles try to move away from the smell.  Most moles will completed leave your lawn within 24 hours.

How long will one application of Mole Exit last?  Mole Exit is active for about 4-6 weeks depending on rain fall.  During periods of heavy rain, it is best to reapply every 4 weeks.   Lawns that have an irrigation system should be reapplied every 4 weeks.

Will the moles come back?  Moles are migratory and are always in search of food.  Because of this, we can never know exactly what they will do.  Molexit will repel the moles for 4-6 weeks while the product is active and has not begun to biodegrade from the weather.  After this there are a lot of factors that can contribute to if or when the moles will come back to your lawn.  If the moles find a better food source in your neighbor’s lawn, it could be months before they return to your lawn.  If the food source isn’t as good as your lawn, they might be back sooner.

How can I be sure I have mole damage?  It is common to mistake damage done by chipmunks and voles as mole damage.   Mole tunnels cause a pattern above the ground that are visible and cause challenges when mowing or moving around in one’s lawn.

We have found Mole Exit to work relatively well but it needs to be reapplied regularly.  If your lawn and areas surrounding your home are an excellent habitat for moles, control will be very difficult, even with Mole Exit.

We require you have grub control and highly recommend you also have other types of insects control through regular program.   Controlling mole food sources is critical to reduce their temptation to inhabit your lawn.  Mole Exit is a safe product that won’t harm your children or pets but needs to be applied regularly and works best when used in tandem with grub control and other types of insect control programs.
