Lawn Inspiration: Boston Flower Show March 17 – 20

With the mild winter we’ve been having here in Boston, we’re already hearing from our lawn care customers who are eager to get outdoors and start enjoying their lawns and gardens. While we sympathize, pragmatically it’s important to remember that Mother Nature might still have some cold surprises in store for us. It’s just too soon to start planting anything outdoors. Lawn care just has to wait.

But while you’re waiting, you can have a lot of fun planning what to do once warm weather arrives for real. The Boston Flower Show is scheduled for March 17th through March 20th. It’s a great opportunity to discover all the possibilities available to the home gardener. Display gardens are always a treat to walk through, and being surrounded by colorful, fragrant flowers lifts the spirits while providing plenty of inspiration. There are many, many vendors at this show, who sell everything from lawn furniture, artistic statues, and more.

Here are some tips for making the most of your Boston Flower Show experience:

Weekdays are less crowded than weekends. If you can attend the show on Thursday or Friday, you’ll encounter fewer people than you’ll meet on Saturday or Sunday. If you like a little elbow room while you’re doing your garden shopping, aim to attend the show early.

Wear comfortable clothing & sensible shoes. The Flower Show encourages walking. You’re going to want to stroll through the display gardens and vendor exhibits. Dress accordingly: sneakers with some arch support are the gardener’s best friend.

Bring your phone. Take pictures of the displays, organic lawn care products and vendor booths that interest you. It’s an easy way to keep track of all the neat stuff you’ve seen without the hassle of trying to take notes everywhere.
