Bittercress

Bittercress

This weed is pesky and is very prevalent in the early spring time. As you can see in the photos, this weed is most easily recognized by its multiple long stems and white flowers. Although it’s most noticeable in the early spring time when it’s blooming, this plant can thrive in all seasons and conditions. It germinates most typically in the fall time, can remain in a dormant state over the winter months, and then remain intact throughout the spring & summer if untouched.

As troublesome as it sounds, Bittercress can be rid from the lawn pretty easily with proper lawn nutrition (fertilizer) to promote turf growth, proper mowing practices, and a couple of good doses of weed control.
