Yard Armour Mosquito Control Option: In2Care Traps vs Spray Treatments

When it comes to keeping your outdoor space free from pesky mosquitoes, you have two great options to choose from.

  • The first is the traditional spray mosquito treatment, which offers immediate relief but has limitations.
  • Alternatively, you can opt for the innovative In2Care Mosquito trap no-spray treatment, a sustainable solution that effectively targets mosquito breeding sites with polinator-safe biological ingredients.

Traditional Mosquito Spray

  • Our traditional spray treatments target adult mosquitos by spraying trees and shrubs around the property to eliminate the mosquitos on contact and repel them for up to 3 weeks. This is NOT a good fit for lawns without many trees and shrubs to spray and does NOT target the mosquito larvae. For spray treatments, we offer a regular insecticide treatment and a natural option.

New In2Care Mosquito Trap Option

  • In2Care Mosquito Traps are an option that targets both the adults AND the breeding sites with a “biological agent” that is targeted to mosquitos. Adult mosquitos are affected by the treatment and pick up on their legs and carry back to their breeding sites, thus stopping the growth cycle

IF you choose the In2Care Trap option, the In2Care mosquito trap(s) would be “leased” to you for the season. (Generally 1 trap is used for every 4,320 sq ft).

With the In2Care Trap option, we would

  • Install and fill the In2Care Trap(s) at the beginning of the season
  • Refill the trap (replace the “sachets” & add water) every 3 weeks
  • Pick up the trap(s) at a free pick up visit at the end of the season.

(If an In2Care Trap is Lost, Stolen or Damaged, we would assess a $25 fee to your account).

You can choose the In2Care Trap program, the Yard Armour Spray Treatment program, or a combination of both. By selecting the approach that best suits your needs, you are taking proactive steps towards creating a pest-free environment that promotes health, safety, and peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Why is the In2Care a better option than spraying? There are times that winds are high and we do not want to spray, since high winds could pick up the insecticide spray and carry it to other properties or onto your house, windows or vehicles. In the past, we have had to reschedule or delay treatments due to winds. In addition, new State of Illinois regulations will be limiting spraying for mosquitos when winds are above 10mph. In addition, spray treatments are targeted to the trees and shrubs around the property where adult mosquitos harbor. Some properties do not have much to spray. Spraying the grass is generally not effective in treating mosquitos.
  2. Is this safe for children, pets and other animals? The active ingredients in the In2Care station are not toxic to birds or mammals. The biological fungus is only toxic to insects. The larvicide deployed in the trap specifically targets mosquito larvae and is not toxic to higher organisms in this low concentration. For example, in other products this larvicide has even been approved by WHO for use in drinking water. Contaminated females will only spread tiny amounts of larvicide (a few micrograms) to other artificial small water bodies, which limits any risk for other aquatic organisms and fish.
  3. What if I change my mind? We can always make changes to your program at any time
  4. What about ticks? The In2Care program is not effective against ticks. For ticks, we will continue to offer our 2- Service Tick spray treatment targeting the mulch and “leaf-litter” areas of the property where ticks harbor. The Spring treatment is best done in April to May and the Fall treatment is best done in October (based on the tick life-cycle). Tick treatments do not target the grass areas.
