Grubs are tiny, white beetle larvae that can lead to big-time damage in your lawn. That’s because they target your grass roots, feeding on them day in and out. Over time, this seriously weakens your lawn and lowers its natural resistance to weeds, pests and other insects. When a grub infestation gets really bad, it can even kill off areas of your lawn. Before the situation goes that far, call in the Lansdale, PA area’s grub control experts. At Lawn Doctor of Havertown, Lansdale, Boyertown, Tredyffrin, we have the know-how, products and techniques to control grubs and restore your lawn.
Signs of a Grub Problem
White grubs include the larvae of Japanese beetles, masked chafer beetles and June beetles. They’re small, white and shaped like the letter “C.” What they lack in size, they make up for in their appetite. Grubs are typically dormant from around October to March. But come Spring, they awaken and begin feeding on your grass roots. Once they develop into adult beetles, they emerge from the surface of the soil, mate, and lay eggs, continuing the cycle of damage to your lawn. Some signs Lansdale area homeowners can look for that grubs are becoming a problem – and need to be controlled – include:- A lawn that has a spongy feel underfoot.
- Grass blades that look wilted and droopy, as well as those that are dying or dead, seemingly without cause.
- Patches of lawn that are irregularly shaped and also discolored. This is due to grass roots not being able to take in enough nutrients and water.
- A sudden onslaught of lawn pests, like birds, raccoons, moles and groundhogs, which feed on grubs.
