- Skip the smartphone and get a fan. While apps and ultrasonic devices claim to keep mosquitoes away, they don’t work as advertised when tested. Don’t waste time or money on them. - Don’t worry about buying citronella candles. There’s no scientific evidence citronella candles repel mosquitoes. They provide the same protection as any other ordinary candle, deterring mosquitoes with smoke and attracting them to the heat and light instead of you.
