August is always the worst time for Weeds. It’s the natural way things work.
-Clearing up How Weed Controls work-
- True Weed Prevention ONLY Happens in Spring during Round 1 & 2 treatments.
- Liquid Sprays used during the summer only kill weeds which are visible, and never serve as weed prevention.
- Weed Prevention is scheduled to wear off in August, EVERY YEAR. WHY?
- Weed Preventers also prevent Grass Seed from sprouting, and August/September are prime seeding season.
- Weed prevention is not universal, but geared toward really tough weeds like Crabgrass, Spurge and Purslane.
- Once the weed prevention materials have expired, those Tough weeds grow quickly where Grass is thin, in the most bare areas of a lawn.
- Weeds grow normally at the edges of concrete surfaces and other places where soil has been exposed.
How Can you Prevent Weeds more effectively all year?
GROW THICKER GRASS
- Seed Every Year in Fall to bolster thin grass and keep all the soil covered.
- Feed your Soil. Fertilizer only feeds your Grass. Soil Enhancement creates a good home for grass roots to offset our Clay soils.
Aeration & Seeding Season is about to begin. Whether you do it our we do it, it just has to be done. We recommend spreading seed for maintenance at 5lbs per 1000 sqft of lawn.
“Liquid Compost” is shorthand for our Soil Enhancement. It brings huge amounts of Humic Acids and Root Growth Stimulants into the soil. Have you ever fed the biological profile of your soil?
