Mow it as low as possible without striking the soil with the mower blade. Bag or rake up this dead material and dispose of it. (This material is not recommended for mulch in the garden).<\/p>\n<p>Scalping before the turf greens up will help avoid thatch build-up problems. It will also expose the soil to sunlight.
