Top Dressing

Top dressing is the process of spreading ¼”-½” of organic compost across the top of existing grass for the purpose of rejuvenating depleted lawns by adding microbes which are natural microorganisms that strengthen plants, grassroots, and improve soil structure. By using organic compost during the top-dressing process, we feed the soil microbes and earthworms that release nutrients, relieve compaction and help reduce thatch problems. Top dressing also fills in bare spots in the lawn caused by drought, shade, disease, and insect damage. It will also help grass roots grow deeper and denser which in turn helps the lawn fight against turf pests and disease problems such as Take-All Root Fungus and Brown Patch disease.
