Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an invasive insect that has been devastating Ash tree populations<\/p>\n

across the country, and unfortunately, it is now spreading rapidly through our community. If you<\/p>\n

The Spread of EAB in Our Area<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the past year, EAB detections have surged in multiple locations. EAB was first discovered in<\/p>\n

north Fort Collins in 2020 and then again in 2021 in east Fort Collins, but last year (2024),<\/p>\n

infestations were confirmed in several new areas, including Loveland, south Fort Collins, and<\/p>\n

west Fort Collins. This rapid spread indicates that Ash trees throughout our area are now at a<\/p>\n

much higher risk of infestation.<\/p>\n

What Does EAB Do to Ash Trees?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Emerald Ash Borers are highly destructive beetles that lay eggs under the bark of Ash trees.<\/p>\n

When the larvae hatch, they tunnel through the tree, cutting off its ability to transport water and<\/p>\n

nutrients. This leads to branch dieback, canopy thinning, and ultimately, the death of the tree.<\/p>\n

Without treatment, nearly all infested Ash trees will succumb to EAB within a few years.<\/p>\n
