Grubs can be devastating to a lawn if they go unnoticed for long enough, so it’s important to protect against them. Repairing damage can cost more than twice as much as a preventative, so it\u2019s better to try to keep them out of the lawn as early as possible.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start with the basics- What are grubs? Grubs are beetle larvae that feed on the roots of the lawn. They grow into Japanese Beetles that feed on plants throughout the lawn, then lay more eggs and the cycle continues. Grubs can cause the lawn to thin, brown out, and become barren. This damage, if left long enough, can become irreversible and can completely devastate a lawn.<\/p>\n

There are a few different ways to identify grubs or grub damage. The easiest way is to pull at the grass. If it pulls up like a carpet, that’s a sure sign for grubs having chewed completely through the roots of the turf. Additionally, if you notice small holes popping up in the lawn, it’s likely from animals such as skunks, squirrels, etc. digging around looking for grubs. You can also notice grubs if you are gardening\/digging up the lawn as they are pretty easily identifiable (white, worm-looking creatures).<\/p>\n
