The New Year gives us an opportunity to focus on what\u2019s important to us. Of course that includes happy, healthy families. That\u2019s why we\u2019re declaring 2016 to be the Year of the Family Friendly Lawn.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve talked to lots of parents, here in Hingham and throughout the South Shore region, and there are some topics that keep cropping up: they want their kids off of the screen and into the outdoors. Fresh air and sunshine matter: so do moving around engaged in physical exercise and imaginative play. Getting out on the grass is good for the body, mind and spirit.<\/p>\n

Unless, of course, the chemicals used to care for that lawn are harsh and toxic. Some fertilizers and weed killers contain truly harmful elements that cause serious health problems, including respiratory distress, allergic reactions and even cancer. These are not substances you want your child exposed to!<\/p>\n
