Core aeration

By removing thousands of pencil-sized plugs of soil from your lawn, Lawn Doctor uses core aeration to open passageways for oxygen, nutrients and moisture.
A core aerating machine removes many small plugs from the lawn which are left scattered across the lawn to slowly break down. The holes allow fertilizer and other beneficial materials to reach the root system more effectively, resulting in a deeper, stronger root system, more effective fertilization. While the plugs break down, they add a light nutritional layer of soil and microorganisms which help reduce the thatch layer.

pH balancing

Generally speaking, your lawn will grow best in slightly acidic soil. The pH level is naturally dependent on a number of factors, including precipitation and vegetative cover. Soils in areas of heavy rainfall tend to be more acidic while soils in more arid regions are often basic.
The most important effect of pH on plant growth is its influence on nutrient availability. For example, under high pH soils, copper, iron, manganese, and zinc are much less available than at lower pH values. Often, nutrient deficiencies can be corrected by adjusting soil pH.

Preventive grub control

Fleas and ticks are leach-like parasitic pests that can cause illness and even death in pets and humans. Adult ticks, which can lay up to 6,000 eggs each year, actively seek warm-blooded hosts. Fleas are able to live for months without food, continuing their life cycle as new hosts become available.
Lawn Doctor can reduce the flea and tick population in your yard with our Custom Care lawn service program, treating the area around your home. However, our flea and tick applications will be more effective if you work with Lawn Doctor to minimize the number of pests that you come in contact with by following these guidelines:
Vacuum carpeting and furniture to remove flea and tick eggs that could have been brought in from outside. You may want to treat your home with a chemical fogging, do-it-yourself product to help reduce the number of fleas and ticks.
Attempt to control fleas and ticks on carriers that enter your home, such as your pets. Your veterinarian or local pet store can recommend effective shampoos, collars and/or sprays to help control fleas and ticks.

Fire ant control

Fire ants are destructive insects that can infest lawns, ornamental beds and homes. These insects build large, highly visible mounds that can ruin the appearance and value of your landscape. Fire ants also cause damage to your lawn and landscape as they create underground tunnels, feeding on seeds and young plants.
